Canine Massage

Many human athletes in all fields of sports will have used massage as a way of helping to heal torn muscles and get them back to enjoying their chosen discipline. If we think of dogs as canine athletes then the same methods can be applied to them. Horses have benefited from massage for many years and it’s great that our dogs can now benefit from this ancient art too. The difference between working with animals and working with humans is, of course, that the humans can tell us where it hurts and the animals have a strong natural instinct to cover up any pain they may be experiencing as, in their ancestors days, showing weakness may mean you end up as someone else’s dinner! Consequently canine massage therapists are trained to look for the subtle signs that dog’s give off to allow them to assess where a dog’s difficulties lie.
