What is canine remedial massage?

Canine remedial massage is the manipulation of soft tissues in order to help with movement conditions or to induce relaxation.

Remedial massage aims to reduce muscle tension and works on trigger points or knots in order to realign muscle fibres and allow muscles to relax and lengthen to increase a dog’s range of movement.

Results can typically be seen in 1-3 sessions. Remedial massage may be beneficial following injury and also for long term conditions such as arthritis which affect a dog’s ability to move freely and have consequences for everyday activities such as walking and negotiating steps and stairs.

Remedial massage may help to reduce tension and stiffness in affected joints and also in those muscles which may be overworked as a result of compensating for less mobile joints.
